I currently have joomla 1.5.3 using newslineII. This is my first time trying to upgrade so not familiar with the process. But from what I read here ( http://docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_1.5...g_1.5x_version ) it doesnt seem to hard.

I need to upgrade to joomla 1.5.8 and have uploaded all the files necessary for the upgrade to my server. I extracted the files and seems to have over wrote what I have but in the admin panel still shows I have joomla 1.5.3!

Doesnt say to in the instructions on the link above but I tried to run the install.php but get restricted access error. I am assuming that I may have the permissions set wrong but dont know what to change.

Any help appreciated.

Ok, just in case there are people out there that have never used joomla before. This is by far the easiest upgrade I have ever seen. I thought there may have been more to it but there isnt. I followed alternative step 3 using the Joomla_1.5.3_to_1.5.8-Stable-Patch_Package.tar.bz2 file download and all was installed well. I tried using the zip but my host server was not extracting the files so I would recommend the tar.bz2.
