hi, is it at all possible to have a module appear in category blog layout, but not appear when you click the article?

the problem i'm facing is that i want certain modules to appear on the category blog layout page in the right module position where the articles are listed. i don't, however, want them to appear when users click the article and are taken to the article page.

i have tried assigning it to many different places but nothing seems to work.

the only time they don't appear is when you click the article from the front page, otherwise they always appear on the article page when you click them from the category blog page.

thank you.

by joomla default since 15 there is no way to do that , the article gets the id from that category , only workaround if you dont have to many articles would be creating menu items for the articles also and disable module on them, this way article and category have own menuid

or try , create category menu item for the top menu , than create new menu item in different menu ( not topmenu) with same category , publish the module on topmenu cat menu item , i did not try this but it might work

hi, thanks neo.

alternatively, is there a way to change the URL that certain extensions point to on the front page?

i mean, for instance, if i click an image in yj nf 6, it points to the URL:

*ww.zhongwenmovies.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=201:s ecret-soundtrack&catid=57:movies

but when i click the image in category blog layout, it points to:

*ww.zhongwenmovies.com/index.php?option=com_multicategories&view=article& id=201:secret-soundtrack&catid=5:movies&Itemid=111

if there was a way to change where yj nf 6 and yj nf 7 extensions "grap from," this would also solve the problem.

please advise, tx.

module pulls default link from the db , it is not editable the way you need it , it puts default assigned itemid , we used to do this in joomla 1.0 , assigning itemid=9999 but in 15 there is no way around, unless you take the snippet completely apart which is to much of custom work

hmm, ok.

in that case, can you please explain your directions above again?

"or try , create category menu item for the top menu , than create new menu item in different menu ( not topmenu) with same category , publish the module on topmenu cat menu item , i did not try this but it might work"

i'm not quite sure what you mean here but i would like to try it.

tx.

the way id's work is :

When you create menu item , each of the created cats/article/section extensions get own menu itemid

this menu item id is used to assign modules , so when you are in module manager you can see it with menu item title like Home, news ect but in real world it is using only that itemid to assign it.

what i was explain is , create same category twice so it gets 2 itemid and assign module to the one that is not used in topmenu ( build in template menu usually positioned under the header)
basically create copy of same menuitem but in a different menu. like said i did not try this

hi, neo..

there is an extension i found called metamod for joomla 1.5 that allows this. the only catch is that you have to assign to "all" meaning the modules appear on the frontpage etc, but i believe there is a recipe to resolve this issue that i just haven't learned yet.

anyway, thanks for your help.

PS. i tried the workaround you mentioned but couldn't get functioning.
