I don't know where to post this, and I have multiple questions.

The site I am creating is video-centric. I need users to be able to - 1) upload their videos, and allow others to watch them. 2) I want the user that uploaded their video to be able to tag the video whatever they want (So that the video appeaers where they think it should appear on the site), multiple tags even. 3) And I really want people to be able to comment, discuss, rate the videos uploaded tie in with facebook, twitter etc.

here are my questions:

Is joomla good for this?
Does YouJoomla have a template that is best for this purpose?
Does YouJoomla have extensions, and which ones that will allow me to give uesrs the ability to do all the above?

Thank you.

Hi - Joomla is capable of handling what you want to do. Is it good for this? Well, that might be a matter for discussion.

I would pick the template you find most attractive for your needs. You will need to obtain a component to handle the functionality you seek. I don't know of one that does everything you seek, although there could be one I am not aware of. If you can find a libre component that does most of what you want, then you could likely get it customized to handle the rest.

Does You Joomla have extensions that will help me to accomplish those tasks? Any one, or more of You joomla extensions would be good, because I paid quite a bit for this service, so I would like to use something from YouJoomla! The big question is this:

Does youjoomla offer an extension or something that i can use to allow users to upload videos?

What about ranking and / or commenting on the videos? Do I need to get something like JomSocial to do this?

Hi

what jaycburton said, answers your questions.
About the template, I also suggest you choose the theme you like the most (look and feel of your site)
Youjoomla does not have the component you are asking for.
I suggest you search the JED for this extension. There are also reviews you can read before you decide what you want to use for your site.

Note that someitmes when you add 3rd party extensions into templates, you might need some modification work to make everything work out.

I have come to be very aware about the modifications lately! I also understand about picking a template, but picking the template does not just give me user upload and all the other functionality I am lookin for, does it? Maybe youjoomla does things differently... to me, the template is a secondary issue to the need for the functionality. I was just trying to find out if youjoomla had these types of extensions that I could use to perform the functionality that I am after. I will give up the choice of template to be able to offer my users the features that I mentioned. Thank you guys for your help. I have been to the JED, and I have seen many a extension! I was looking for a more personal, direct, experienced answer that addressed my specific concerns I mentioned, ie - use this extension to do this, and this one to do that.... I appreciate your help and I will keep looking for answers. Thank you

@ franklyhollywood Your comment about picking a template does not give functionality is right on the money. Folks tend to generally design a Website one of two ways:

1) Make it do what you want, then make it look good, or

2) Make it look good, then make it do what you want.

Since YouJoomla is a template and extension club, the majority of the products offered are for more general use, and not necessarily intended to fit specific needs.

For example, there is a travel template that features a great layout and appearance; however, it is only designed to accept submissions from users and forward them via email. The functionality to store them in a database is not in the code. IMHO, it is easier to add that functionality than to start with that functionality and try to make a site as nice around the code.

That said, it is (again, IMHO) generally easier to pick the template/demo you want to use for the desired appearance, and then use any necessary third-party extensions or other customizations to make it DO what you want. Cheers!

I guess what I am looking for as in easier way through navigating and finding what extensions are offered. It is very klunky to say the least, to find what you need / want here. There are several templates that I like, and I want to try several of them with the functionality that I need, before I settle on one. But it is very hard to decipher what extensions I am looking at, and which ones to grab in that long list. It's alright, I understand what I need to do. Thank you for your input.... I may have more questions on the different extensions later... thank you.

Hi - I understand exactly what you are saying. If you visit the YJ home page, then click on the "OUR SHOWCASE" link, you can get a small view of what the overall demo site looks like. Then simply click on one, and use the arrows in the subsequent windows to navigate. You can also click on the thumbnail of the demo to bring up a larger preview, then use the arrows at the top to navigate through these full-size demos.
